Economic Development KEDDO is funded as an Economic Development District (EDD). This allows member governments to be assisted by preparing annual economic plans and other requirements. EDD status enables KEDDO to access funding for infrastructure planning and improvements as well as overall economic development throughout the region. |

KEDDO History In 1967, a group of local civic and business leaders met and petitioned the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for funding of a local organization to accomplish overall economic planning and development for the seven county region of Choctaw, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, McCurtain, Pittsburg and Pushmataha Counties. KEDDO is a legal trust authority set up to assist people of Southeastern Oklahoma to plan and promote growth and development for the seven county area. The organization is directed by a Board of Trustees of persons from each of the counties. The financing for KEDDO is a cooperative effort between Federal, State and Local Governments. Our Purpose Our purpose is to achieve total community development which will result in a balanced blend of industrial, recreational, social, cultural and educational forces to bring about a broadened socio-economic base of the seven county region. The objective of KEDDO is to enhance the living conditions and standards in the area for all communities. KEDDO is empowered to work with any agency which may offer assistance pertinent to a community's proposal including all types of grantsmanship. However, we enjoy a unique contractual arrangement with the following agencies: Oklahoma State Legislature (REAP), U.S. Department of Commerce, OK Department of Human Services, OK Employment Security Commission, OK Department of Agriculture, OK Department of Commerce, OK.
