Bluebird's Genealogy Page

Genealogical Research: favorite pasttime, wonderful hobby....
This poem was sent to me by a friend in the #genealogy chat channel, "Travelier", Norma Adams.

Bluebirds for Happiness

Bluebirds are for happiness, so keep one in your heart.
Train it to make music when the sunny days depart.
Then no matter where you go or what may come along
Never fear, you'll always hear a bluebird in full song.

You will have your gloomy times when nothing seems worth while.
But that's the time to pluck up courage and to wear a smile
That's the time to listen for the singing. it will come
Unless you are determined to be deaf and cross and glum.

Coax your bluebird into song though round you there may be
Jarring sounds of discord, conflict and disharmony.
Golden notes will float like magic music through the air
there'll be happiness for you and laughter.

Several years ago, my twin sister handed me several genealogical sheets of family history saying, "you get the paternal side of the family history and I will get the maternal side."

Little was it known at that time that 'life in genealogy' would be so much fun. Through the years a lot of names have been found and some of those are listed at this site, and more will be added --.

The twin and I had only 3 known grandparents when we began our 'tree', not much was known about the 4th, (my mother's father). My mother being only seven at the time her parents divorced; was the last time she had heard or seen him. He was found after a few months and at that time he was one of the biggest lineage that we had. Found to have remarried, and had five children. My mother was really ecstatic.

For many years now - the twin and I are the only genealogists in all directs lines. Perhaps because of the love of history, writing research letters, going to research libraries, researching lost (but found) aged materials, is what keeps the excitement in 'hunt' for lost ancestors. Also, in recording all the data gives a sense of a great accomplishment.

Several interesting stories were related to us concerning some of our grandparents and I have enclosed a few of them.

Gggrandfather, David Newton Jarrard was a Baptist Minister in Habersham Co. Georgia, and was assigned to the Indian Territory to teach the Choctaw Indians. He filled up two covered wagons of family possessions, 'loaded' up his wife and 12 children, and travel for two months to the I.T., was only there two months when he died of pneumonia. A few days after that a 12 year daughter also died. He and his daughter were one the first to be buried in Cowlington, I.T., and that cemetery is one of the biggest and oldest in the state of Oklahoma today.

One gggrandfather, Thomas A. Puckett, had a large plantation in Monroe County, Mississippi. During the Civil War he lost everything that he owned, moved his family to Greenwood, Arkansas, and while there he owned and operated one of the largest cotton gin in that part of the state. Many, many stories have 'come out' of the research, these two stand out the most on the mind.

One ancestor, gggrandfather, Neal Lafayette Hardin; took two years to find him, found him as a young man, who signed up with the Union Army from Arkansas, only a few chose to fight for the North, his family divided into the Confederates and the Union.

This Web Site has many documented facts, while other information is hearsay from family members, and some just possibilities -- nonetheless, what we have are links to more information. Concerning any individual, we as genealogists 'never to erase, right or wrong'.
