Eastern to offer free admission for last home basketball game on Saturday


WILBURTON, OK (Feb. 25, 2014) – Eastern Oklahoma State College will offer free admission to the last home basketball game of the season against Redlands Community College on Saturday, March 1.

The 18th ranked Lady Mountaineers will tip off at 3 p.m., followed by the Mountaineers at 5 p.m. The afternoon will feature a special sophomore recognition between the games.

On Monday, the Lady Mountaineers moved to 23-4 on the season after a 73-56 win over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. Eastern had four women score in double digits in the victory, including Olivia Brown with 17 points, De’Amber Brice with 16 points, and Shay Carter and Kaya Johnson each adding 11 points.

The Mountaineers also claimed a 79-73 victory over the Mavericks with Dontavious Sears contributing 23 points and 16 rebounds. Devaughn Purcell added 21 points. The Mountaineers are now 19-8 overall.

The Region II Championship Tournament is scheduled for March 3-8 in Shawnee. The women’s tournament will be played at the Noble Complex and the men’s tournament will take place at the Mabee Aerobic Center.
