Latimer County General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary donates scholarship funds to Eastern
WILBURTON, OK (Jan. 29, 2019) –The Latimer County General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary recently made a $2,000 donation to the Eastern Oklahoma State College Development Foundation to benefit students in Eastern’s nursing program.
Kathy Sherman, president of the Auxiliary, explained the funds became available after the closure of Latimer County General Hospital, the group’s founding benefactor. Sherman said the group decided Eastern’s nursing program was the next logical recipient for the funds.
“While the loss of Latimer County’s only hospital is very unfortunate, we are so grateful to the Ladies Auxiliary for this donation and will proudly continue to educate stewards of our health,” said Gina Bullock, Director of Nursing at Eastern. “Financial assistance enables our students to reach their academic goals in a timely fashion, and this donation will allow us to spread that assistance even further.”
Four students will receive a $250 Latimer County General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship in the fall of 2019 and spring of 2020 semesters. Students will be selected from the 2019-20 scholarship applicant pool.
