In 1998, Eastern opened a state-of-the-art branch facility in McAlester, conveniently located off of U.S. Hwy 69. The campus offers lower-division, upper-division and graduate-level courses from Eastern and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The partnership allows students to begin their collegiate experience with Eastern and complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree in McAlester. Many of the classes offered at Eastern’s McAlester campus are in the evening or on weekends so students can balance family, work and school.
The McAlester Campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College is located on a beautiful 17-acre site in McAlester’s northeast industrial park, above Carl Albert Boulevard and west of Highway 69. Access is available from College Avenue (an eastward extension of Monroe Street).
Eastern’s McAlester Campus has been charged by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) to serve as the institution responsible for providing and facilitating higher education courses and programs at the lower-division, upper-division, and graduate level in the McAlester area.
The Eastern Oklahoma State College McAlester Branch Campus includes two classroom buildings. These facilities house 29 classrooms, 11 interactive TV classrooms, two computer labs, a library with computing facilities, and college offices.
The campus offers courses from Eastern Oklahoma State College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Most courses are taught in the evenings, with some available during the day and on weekends. This unique arrangement provides students the opportunity to begin their collegiate experience with Eastern and complete a bachelor’s or even master’s degree at the McAlester Campus. With full-time academic advising provided through Eastern and Southeastern, students are assured accurate degree completion.
