WILBURTON, OK (Nov. 29, 2021) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Music Department will present its 95th annual Candlelighting program Sunday, Dec. 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
The program provides an opportunity for the Eastern community and area community to convene and welcome the holiday season. The event is one of the oldest traditions at Eastern and will feature performances by the Eastern Brass Quartet and the Eastern Concert Choir. The event will conclude with the customary lighting of candles.
Brian T. Harris, Eastern’s director of instrumental and choral ensembles, will lead the Brass Quartet and Concert Choir in this display of talent. Cheryl Wood-Myers will accompany the performances. The groups will perform a selection of classic numbers including “The First Noel,” “Silent Night,” “What Child is This,” “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” and an arrangement entitled “Christmas…In about 3 Minutes.”

Students and community members performing this year include James Benefield of McAlester; Elton Baird of Houston, Texas; Melanie Harris of Davidsville, Pennsylvania; Lily Miller and Jason Miller of Krebs; Pat Ratliff of Poteau; Leila Aaron, Janice Forwoodson, Trystin Garvin, Maurice Hawthorne, Karren Palmieri Majors, Danni Martinez, Sarah Martinez, Laura Myers, Kady Smith, and Wayne Vogt of Wilburton.
