Eastern Oklahoma State College Employees Shine at Annual Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges Conference

WILBURTON, Oklahoma – Eastern Oklahoma State College is thrilled to announce the recognition of three outstanding employees at the 2024 Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges conference held in Tulsa. These individuals were celebrated for their unwavering dedication, contributions to their roles and service to the community.

Heather Sanders, assistant dean and nursing professor with more than 16 years of service, was awarded the OACC Outstanding Faculty Award. Throughout the past year, Heather demonstrated exceptional resilience and leadership throughout her career. In addition to her teaching duties, she played a pivotal role in establishing the hybrid program for LPN students to transition to RN’s, trained her replacement as sophomore instructor, and took on the responsibilities of sophomore-level coordinator while learning the role of assistant dean. Her mentorship, student advocacy and participation in college events have made her a vital part of the Eastern community.

Sandra Robertson, the college’s registrar and international student affairs coordinator, received the Outstanding Professional Employee Award. With more than 30 years of service, her unwavering commitment has made her an indispensable member of the Eastern team. Her responsibilities include communicating with students, past and present, and ensuring they are positioned for success while on campus and after graduation.

Kelly Bogard, McAlester campus office manager, was honored with the OACC Outstanding Support Staff Award. More than her 18 years of service, Bogard has become a cornerstone of the McAlester campus, known for her exceptional communication skills and her compassionate support of students. She plays a critical role in the smooth operation of the campus, ensuring everything from admissions to facilities is in top order.

OACC is a state association representing the 12 public community colleges in Oklahoma. Its mission is to support and advance the work of community colleges and foster collaboration among its members.
