WILBURTON, Okla. – Eastern Oklahoma State College is set to host a parade in honor of its 85th homecoming celebration on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.

The parade will begin at NE 2nd St. and follow a route down Main St. through downtown Wilburton, concluding at NW 3rd St. Parade entries will be required to be in place at the staging area by 10:15 a.m. The parade line-up is located at the United Methodist Church at the corner of Ada Ave. and NE 1st St. It is recommended that all entries travel east on Ada Ave. to reach the staging/check-in point.

A new addition to this year’s parade will be the Kids Bike Parade. Children can decorate their bikes, trikes, power wheels, skateboards or rollerblades and ride in the parade. All parade participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes in Eastern’s school colors, blue and gold. Cash prizes will be awarded to the “Most Creative” and “Mountaineer Spirit” bikes. At the conclusion of the Kids Bike Parade, free popsicles will be handed out at the E.E. Tourtellotte Student Center sponsored by Eastern president Dr. Janet Wansick.

This event is free and registration is preferred. Prizes will be awarded at halftime of the women’s basketball homecoming game tipping off at 2 p.m. The Kids Bike parade line-up begins at 10:15 a.m. with judging beginning at 10:30 a.m. Line-up will be located at the Farm Bureau Parking Lot at 202 E Main St.

The theme for Eastern’s homecoming this year is “Back to the E,” an Eastern spin on the iconic 1985 blockbuster “Back to the Future.”

Community organizations are invited to participate in the parade. Entries are due to the Eastern president’s office by Thursday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. Visit the 2022 Homecoming page or contact Candace Raney at 918-465-1723 or craney@eosc.edu for more information.
