WILBURTON, Oklahoma – A team of Eastern Oklahoma State College students showcased their business acumen earlier this week at the Alliance for Sport Business Conference in Oklahoma City, where they participated in the highly competitive Case Study Competition.
The EOSC team, comprised of business administration students Wes Bird (North Little Rock, Ark.), Mason Gooding (Tulsa, Okla.), Cyrus Kornegay (Collinsville, Okla.), and Dylan Raines (Austin, Texas), along with computer information systems student Camden White (Choctaw, Okla.), presented a strategic rebranding case study for the Oklahoma City Comets, a Triple-A baseball team. Their presentation received immediate positive feedback from university professors representing sports business programs nationwide.
In addition to the competitors, EOSC business administration students Alyssa Hart (Hannibal, Mo.) and Landon Flusche (Broken Arrow, Okla.) attended the conference, gaining valuable insight into the sports business industry and networking with professionals in the field.
Beyond the competition, the students and faculty attended a tour of Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Oklahoma City Comets, gaining firsthand knowledge of the operations behind a professional sports venue. The group also attended an Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game, providing them with further exposure to the sports industry at the professional level.
“This experience was invaluable for our students,” said Andrea Smallwood, EOSC business professor. “Not only did they demonstrate their ability to apply classroom knowledge in a competitive setting, but they also had the opportunity to network with industry professionals and learn more about potential career paths in sports business.”
The Alliance for Sport Business Conference brings together students and faculty from across the country to discuss key trends and developments in the sports industry, promoting professional growth and educational advancement. EOSC’s participation underscores the college’s commitment to providing hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for success beyond the classroom.
